Michelle and Alan-
I just wanted to express my gratitude for all the wonderful things you have done for my overall health- both mental and physical!
After I injured my back at the end of 2005, I was steadily putting on weight. Suddenly (so it seemed!), I was 40 pounds heavier!
I also had just quit drinking and smoking and had been dealing with the emotional repercussions of that.
That’s when I saw your flyer! A few weeks later I FINALLY called. Best thing I ever did. You both have helped me to become physically
stronger than I have ever been in my life. This physical strength has not only helped keep my back relatively pain-free, but it has also made
me feel mentally and psychologically much stronger! As of a couple of months ago, I had lost 5% of my body fat…wow!
Now, I am focusing on eating better. I know if I follow your plan for eating and cardio I will take off all the weight!
Thanks again! You both really mean a lot to me!

Michelle and Alan,
I just want to say that I am so thankful that I was recommended to you. I think the most important aspect to me
about how both of you help your clients to achieve their goals is by meeting each individual's personal needs. You fully understand that each
person is different. Time after time in my long journey of attempting to lose weight, I sought out places that I thought were the answer by
being given one type of meal plan as everyone else. The "one size fits all" package does not fit me. Both of you know that this is not an
effective method to lose weight and keep it off long term. I am so thankful that you take the time to really get to know your clients by all
the pre-evaluations that you do before the whole process begins. Each individual is unique and has different areas of strengths and weaknesses.
Another attribute about both of you, is that you really do care about the individual and their ability to achieve
their personal goal. Some may take longer than others and some really need pushed like me to make progress. I have met SO many people who really
could care less about the individual person and how well they do; they are just concerned with the profit they can achieve with all the membership
fees and signing long term contracts. I have difinitely learned the hard way about being "talked" into something because of being pressured or
made to feel that their package was the only resolution to losing weight and becoming healthy.
I also want to mention how GREAT if feels to be encouraged and praised by two trainers who are so down to earth and upbeat!! I would never be able to be consistent and push myself without your advice, encouragement and good old fashioned tough love.
I know I have a long way to go, but I am SO NOT GIVING UP and WILL MEET MY GOAL! It may take me a little longer, but I will keep persevering. I could not achieve this without both of your compassion, consistency, motivational direction; along with nutritional and physical education needed for this lifelong journey.

Something
exciting happened this weekend. Three months after starting my training
with Al and Michelle at In Shape, I can fit into clothes that I haven't
been able to wear in two years. I really didn't think that could happen
after so little time.
I have always been just a little
overweight and then managed to gain about 30 pounds in the last three
years. If anyone has ever stood in their closet, looking at clothes and
don't fit or that you don't feel good in, you know the feeling. I just
didn't like my body and was tired of having to buy bigger sizes to hide
it. I decided I had enough and was ready to make a change. I wanted to
feel healthy and strong and like my body.
But making a change is
hard. I knew that I needed to fix my eating but couldn't figure out
exactly how to make that work. I knew that I needed to workout but
motivating myself to get started, especially when I really didn't like
my body or feel good in general was, really hard.
Then I found
In Shape and Michele and Al. WOW!!! The first thing I loved is that I
wasn't at some major gym working out around a bunch of people that
already looked great.
The second thing that I loved was that Al
and Michele were so positive that I could make a change even when I
really wasn't believing in myself. And they were right - because they
are the experts and knew what to do.
Michelle met with me for
the dreaded body composition/fitness test. I was so embarrassed. I
really didn't want to know that I was THAT out of shape. She was great
though at staying positive. She told me that I needed to focus on
setting a goal and this would let me know in six to eight weeks of
where I was starting from. If you haven't met Michelle yet - well,
let's just say that her enthusiasm is infectious and she obviously
knows what she is doing.
Then came the nutrition side of thing.
That is another great thing about In Shape. They aren't just there to
make sure you are working out. With their background and expertise,
they know that we have to be eating right if we are really going to see
results. One of my biggest fears was being hungry. I had tried a few
other diets - and I never lasted very long because I hate that hungry
feeling. Eating six small meals a day - I was so full. Having meal
plans and recipes as part of the service provided is just amazing. And
yes, I missed a few of my favorite foods, but the meal plans In Shape
provides have so much variety. And they had already done the hard work
of figuring how much of which food I needed to eat. After about two
weeks, it was like my body was on a schedule. If I missed a meal, I
definitely felt it. Or if I ate too much, I felt it. And I had so much
energy and felt amazing. I went on a short trip and went back to normal
eating and my previously "normal" foods. I was so lethargic and just
didn't feel good. Eating six small meals does require a bit of
planning. But if Michelle can do it (while running a studio with three
small children) then it's hard to make up excuses not to do it.
And
then came the workouts. Since I have a morning time, I mostly train
with Al. Al might not want me to tell you all that there were times
that I was literally crawling up the stairs because I couldn't walk,
but it is the truth. After not using my muscles much, my body was in
shock that I was trying to make it do something strenuous. I would come
to my next session convinced that he would take it light, and I would
hear "You will be fine. Let's go." Another great thing about training
at In Shape is that Al and Michelle really know what my body is capable
of. This is good, especially for me, because I can make up any excuse
in the world - whether it is that my legs hurt today, or that I am not
strong enough to do this, or I don't want to do this. They are amazing
at getting me over that hump, switching up the exercises to keep it
interesting. And after a few weeks of my muscles screaming at me, I
started getting addicted to those exercise endorphins. I looked forward
to seeing what Al was going to do to me. And then little glimmers of
muscle started appearing, and my jeans started fitting, and I started
just feeling better. And all that work and sweat was worth it.
I
had my second body composition/fitness test three weeks ago. Thanks to
Al and Michelle's phenomenal guidance and coaching, I have lost 6.4% of
my body fat and 7 pounds. And while the numbers are nice to think
about, I am enjoying the fact that for the first time in awhile, I feel
good. I know that I am fueling my body correctly and I know that I am
starting to look good. My clothes are fitting better and getting too
big. I am not embarrassed to go to the store in a pair of shorts and
not nearly as embarrassed to go to the pool. My muscle definition is
starting to show in my arms and my legs. Sure, I have some more work to
do, but the exciting thing is - I know that I can do it!
So a huge THANK YOU to Al and Michelle.
Krista Mow
P.S.
If you aren't drinking those shakes they recommend, you should start
that immediately. They really are like dessert which is wonderful -
especially for meal #6.

As a business owner, I am very busy during the day and find it tough to
motivate myself to exercise after working. I recognize the importance
of having a healthy body. The solution for me was to work with a
personal trainer. I have been a client of In Shape for several months
now and have seen a tremendous improvement in my health. Both Al and
Michelle provide a individual plan that suited me and my work schedule.
I have had a few trainers in the past at big gyms, however found that
it was a cookie cutter workout and I was being babysat through the
session. In Shape did a comprehensive body analysis before I began and
then tailored a program that keeps me challenged as my fitness
improves. Al and Michelle also take time to provide a sample diet each
week that is carefully planned to optimize our sessions.
The bottom
line for me is a trim waist and a proportional body weight. I do
receive compliments from friends and family frequently. An added value
is that I was able to qualify for the best ratings for my health, life
and disability insurances which saves me quite a bit of money each
month.

Michelle and Alan have proved to be one of the most fortuitous finds in my life.
I’ve only been with them a couple months so far and I have a LONG way
to go, but they are providing me with a solid path to follow and
shining some light down on the hard road I’m having to travel to find
my way out of years of discouragement and feeling defeated and having
finally giving up out of sheer exhaustion.
Sounds awfully
dramatic, doesn’t it? Imagine, if you will, having lost 60+ pounds on
Weight Watchers and then Maintaining that loss for 4 great years, and
then suddenly starting to Gain Weight even though you are eating better
than you ever did and you are working out more than you did when you
originally lost the weight! Imagine that you ask your doctor to check
your thyroid and your doctor thinks you’re just looking for excuses and
doesn’t do it. You get more and more heavy and more and more fatigued,
confused, mentally cloudy, and depressed, as well as experiencing more
physical symptoms that you don’t know yet are all part of
Hypothyroidism. Finally, after 3 years and gaining around 70 pounds so
that you’re heavier than you were when you joined WW, your doctor
checks your thyroid and announces, “I know why you’re gaining weight:
You have a sluggish thyroid.”
Imagine that you start on
medication but it doesn’t seem to do any good: Every time you lose some
weight over the next year, you end up gaining it back and then some
more; you are still TIRED all the time and can’t concentrate worth
beans. Then you move to another state because your spouse got a new
job, you find a specialist for your thyroid, the specialist figures out
that you’re not responding to the generic form of the thyroid medicine
and puts you on “the real thing” and you do start feeling better and
finally follow-up bloodwork shows your levels “normal”.
Imagine,
though, that here you are 80+ pounds heavier than you were 4+ years ago
and you just don’t know where to even START to get your life back under
control, you don’t even feel like WW is enough by itself this time—AND
THEN your daughter back where you used to live gets engaged and is
having the wedding in one year, which is marvelous happy news BUT you
don’t want to look like this forever in her wedding pictures! . . .
That’s
where I was when I found Michelle and Alan through Supper Sensations
just about two months ago, and I am SO GRATEFUL!! Their attention to
the individual’s circumstances and needs and their careful planning of
a program to address those needs regardless of what someone else they
are helping may need is precisely what I needed.
I love the
private training studio. I had had a gym membership decades ago &
finally let it lapse because I simply never went after a certain
instructor who was responsible for my joining that one in the first
place and who kept me motivated left, and I knew I could not start
going to a gym now; I debated getting a Y membership but wasn’t sure I
could even stick with that just now. I like working out with Michelle
in an environment with minimum distraction and not having to feel
awkward in the presence of all the die-hards that are always at a gym
making me feel totally inept!!
I love their nutrition plan of
six meals a day because I was already a grazer just because that’s what
worked best with my body; I’m borderline hypoglycemic. Michelle and Al
have given me menus to work with to better implement that
small-but-frequent-meals plan I had unconsciously placed myself on
decades ago, giving me a greater variety of ideas of what to eat in
those six meals a day, and giving me some great new recipes to try!
And
I love working with Michelle and Al. (Yes, even Alan. ::grins::) I was
a little worried about going to personal trainers, but to my relief
they do NOT treat me like some generic client who should be able to do
this many push-ups and that many reps of this much weight. . . . They
take into consideration that I’m having to overcome years of fatigue
and lousy metabolism from the hypothyroidism when they design my
workouts, and I may HURT after a lot of the workouts, but I know
(sometimes that knowledge is buried deep inside, but I do know it
::winks::) they are gearing my workouts to what my body can do, and
that gives me a lot of hope that I will lick this, I will get into
decent shape again and be able to maintain it.
I simply cannot recommend them highly enough! They are a God-send.
